The Story Behind the Scent
Some memories of Saigon cannot be found on a postcard: a Lunar New Year afternoon, a familiar street, late light on old buildings, a scent that passes and disappears. La Perle d’Orient returns to the city once known as the Pearl of the Orient. Yet what I wanted to preserve was not the glamour of that name, but a city that has accompanied me through years of change, leaving certain details remarkably intact.
